Prehistoric Skull Reconstruction

Working with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, I was given the opportunity to help paleontologists reconstruct the skull of a never-before-seen prehistoric crocodilian ancestor based on several fossil fragments they had discovered in Durham, NC. This reconstruction is to be used in the paper publishing the fossil's discovery.

I helped create 3D models using a handheld Creaform 3D scanner. White indicates 3D scans of the fossil fragments, whereas gray indicates bones replicated based on other specimens and modified to fit the hypothetical skull, or areas where the shape of bones is unsure.
